Everything You Need to Know About Our First Cohort!

WE ARE SO EXCITED to finally share all the details for the Heart of Maine Doula Program's very first cohort!

Registration Opens November 1

When and Where

All ten sessions run from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. In-person sessions are held in Auburn, ME, and webinars run live on Zoom, so you can join from wherever works for you.

What You'll Learn, Week by Week

  • January 23, in-person: Introduction to Heart of Maine and doula work. Meet your cohort and get grounded in what this field is really about.

  • January 30, webinar: Anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and labor.

  • February 6, in-person: Medical management of labor.

  • February 13: Off week. Time to rest and catch up on reading.

  • February 20, in-person: Emotional and physical support techniques.

  • February 27, in-person: Postpartum support.

  • March 6, webinar: Lactation basics.

  • March 13: Community activity week. Attend a local feeding support group.

  • March 20, in-person: Newborn care.

  • March 27: Off week.

  • April 3, in-person: Cultural humility, communication, and advocacy.

  • April 10, webinar: Professional practice, including outlining your own business model.

  • April 17, in-person: Practical skills for doulas, bringing it all together.

By the time you finish, you're not just familiar with doula work. You're ready to do it.

Cost and Scholarships

Tuition is $500. Scholarships are available too, for BIPOC, bilingual, and economically disadvantaged applicants. Scholarship applications open November 1, right alongside registration, so reach out early if that's you.

After You Finish, You're Still Supported

Graduation isn't the end, it's the start of the next part! Every graduate gets ongoing mentorship plus a free one year membership to Community Doulas, our nonprofit community doula network. That means real support and real client experience as you build your own business, collaborate within your community, or join an agency, whichever path feels right for you.
