Anyone with a passion for supporting families in Maine—regardless of previous experience—is welcome to join. Our program is open to beginners and those seeking to expand their skills.

While the curriculum is tailored to Maine’s unique culture and healthcare landscape, participants from other regions are welcome if they are interested in serving Maine families or want to learn more about birth work in this state.

The program includes in-person workshops, live webinars, mentoring sessions, and self-paced online activities, offering a flexible and engaging learning experience.

Most participants complete the program in 4–8 months, but the flexible structure allows you to progress at your own pace.

We cover the full spectrum of doula care, including pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum support, business basics, cultural competence, and more.

Graduates have access to ongoing mentorship, networking opportunities, and resources to help build their doula practice and professional confidence.

There are books on our reading list that you may choose to buy but most of them are available at your local library or at our lending library.
